7-day launch checklist
A plain checklist for the days around launching a product, from 3 days before to 3 days after. Use it as is, free, with no signup. It promises no rankings, traffic or sales.
Day −3: Get the basics ready
- Write the product in one sentence: what it does, for whom, and the problem it solves.
- Write down what makes it different in plain words. If you have no proof yet (users, numbers), say so; do not invent any.
- List the words you will not use (for example “revolutionary”, “game-changer”).
- Pick your channels. Choose only the ones you can show up on: X, Reddit, Product Hunt.
- Check that the link you will share works on your phone and on a desktop.
Day −2: Draft the posts
- Draft a short X thread: the problem, what the product does, what it does not do, how to try it, and a question asking for feedback.
- Draft two or three single posts with one idea each.
- Draft the Reddit post as a person sharing something they made. Read the subreddit’s self-promotion rules first.
- Draft the Product Hunt tagline (60 characters or fewer), description and maker comment.
Day −1: Prepare the visuals and re-read
- Prepare one image or screenshot per channel. Use only real screenshots of your product, or clearly illustrative art.
- Re-read every draft out loud. Cut anything you could not defend if someone asked.
- Remove any promise about rankings, traffic or sales. Nobody can promise those.
- Schedule time on launch day to reply to comments.
Day 0: Launch day
- Post on each channel from your own account, one at a time, and edit each draft into your own voice.
- Stay available and answer every comment and question, including the critical ones.
- Keep a simple log: where you posted, when, and what people said.
- Do not ask friends to upvote or comment in bulk. Many communities treat that as a violation.
Day +1: Follow up
- Reply to everything that came in overnight.
- Write down the questions you were asked more than once; they show what your page is missing.
- Fix any broken link or unclear sentence people pointed out.
Day +2: Learn from it
- Review your log: which post and channel produced real conversations, and which produced none.
- Pick the single most common objection and decide how to answer it on your page.
Day +3: Close the loop
- Thank the people who gave feedback, and tell them what you changed.
- Decide your next step from what actually happened, not from what you hoped for.
- Save your best-performing post as a starting point for next time.
